SWIS and Drupal fight for the trusted web with WordProof

The trust in the internet is slowly failing. This has consequences online, but also in your daily life. What sites or webshops can you trust? Are search engines and social media the safe havens they once were?

Transparency & accountability

It’s time to make truth part of the internet’s DNA. Transparency & accountability for the content you create, rely on or advertise with.

Starting today this is possible using Drupal, open-source, timestamps, and blockchain technology. The Dutch start-up WordProof is leading the charge and has joined forces with SWIS to bring the ability to timestamp your content to Drupal. By timestamping content, a trusted web arises.

Building the trusted web by timestamping content

The trust in the internet is slowly failing. This has consequences online, but also in your daily life. What sites or webshops can you trust? Are search engines and social media the safe havens they once were? It’s time to make truth part of the internet’s DNA. Transparency & accountability for the content you create, rely on or advertise with.

The mission of WordProof is to make trust part of the internet’s DNA. Sebastiaan van der Lans, founder of WordProof and chairman of the Trusted Web Foundation: "Simply put; when content on the internet influences my life I want to know where it's from, how is has been changed and who touched it. Also, what is mine, should always stay mine.
Timestamping all content on the internet does exactly that. With timestamps, we build a trusted web though open source technology. We are extremely excited to join forces with SWIS to release the Drupal module, bringing WordProof to many new governments and non-profit organizations."

Copyright your content with timestamps

Using blockchain timestamps, a digital signature, you create proof that specific content was published at a certain time. This creates trust between you and your readers, search engines, and social media. Fighting copyright infringement is a lot easier with this signature, proving the publication date and content of your publications.

With WordProof you automatically timestamp all your content. This proves you are the creator. You can download a certificate and use this as proof when fighting infringement.

Proof to your reader you published the content first

One of the largest advantages of timestamping content is creating trust. Using the certificate the reader can validate content, see what might have changed and validate who published the information. Recently the NRC has implemented WordProof for all their articles. NRC is a Dutch news outlet reaching more than 4 million readers monthly.

The WordProof Drupal module is now available for every Drupal website

SWIS worked with WordProof to build a Drupal module. Drupal is an open-source CMS that is widely used in government and non-profit organizations. The first release of the Drupal module potentially brings the trusted web to a million new websites. The module is currently running on swis.nl and we are working closely with our clients to bring the trusted web to other websites.

Matthias Snoei, founder and CEO of SWIS: "The open web is part of our DNA. We see timestamping as the logical next step in our quest for a better internet. As soon as we learned about the power of timestamping we got in touch with WordProof to join forces to help build the trusted web."
